Thamesmead

After a talk at morning assembly about the role of the park, plants and colour through the seasons, the entire school, along with teachers and members of staff joined Playforce, Peabody and landscape architects Shape armed with spades and bark mulch.

Playforce operations manager Jane Bain explained: “The children were really excited about being involved in ‘their’ park. It was great to see that they enjoyed playing a part in shaping their immediate environment, rather than seeing it something detached from their day-to-day lives.  Everyone had a great time and the pupils were a credit to their community!”

Peabody’s landscape regeneration manager Amanda-Jayne Doherty added: “Peabody is undertaking a number of play refurbishments in Thamesmead, with St John Fisher being the first to be completed. 

“The design by Shape and works undertaken by TCL Group have transformed the area, creating a beautiful play space with lots of exciting equipment to enjoy. It was great that the children from St John Fisher school could help with the design and planting of new trees and shrubs. The play space has been well received and demonstrates Peabody’s commitment to regenerating Thamesmead.”
