You might not know this about our love of trees

18 November 2020

We’re so passionate about trees that, over the years, we’ve donated hundreds of trees to schools and communities around the UK.

Last year, for National Tree Week, Playforce donated almost 100 trees to Playforce customers across the UK. We’re enjoying seeing them grow - almost a sign of hope that even thought children might not have been able to enjoy the school’s outdoor space for much of 2020, things have carried on.

But it doesn’t stop there… As Teignbridge District Council’s grounds maintenance partner, Playforce’s parent company, idverde, was delighted to help deliver the council’s ambitious plan to plant 1,500 trees during February as part of its 2020 tree planting programme.

Commenting on the launch of the tree planting initiative, Cllr Andrew MacGregor, Teignbridge District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Resorts and Open Spaces, explained: “As a new administration, we have a strong emphasis on combatting climate change and improving the landscape and environment of our beautiful district. Planting trees is a vital contribution to this process and will not only have an immediate impact but will make a positive contribution to the quality of life of our residents and visitors for generations to come.”

idverde was pleased to lend its support to this project by clearing a 1,500 square metre area at St Michael’s Field in preparation for planting. Members of idverde’s team were also on hand on 19th and 20th February to assist with planting, mulching, staking and guarding at Michael’s Field and Sandringham Park, with members of Teignbridge District Councillors all ‘digging deep’ to help plant the trees.

Our playground design and installation teams work hard to develop schemes that incorporate natural landscaping and, working with idverde, we’re able to keep them looking lovely all year round. Here are a couple of examples of our work:

Brentfield Primary School

Kings Hill Primary School

Woolston CE Primary School

If you’re thinking about planting trees this National Tree Week, talk to us about our landscaping services. And if you’re looking for free trees… you might want to take a look at The Woodland Trust (donating trees) and The Tree Council (offering grants for tree planting).
