The winner of a new 10k playground announced

03 November 2021

A few weeks ago we launched our biggest competition yet. We were so excited to be getting everyone back to school we invited you all to enter a competition to win a playground.

The competition was open to schools and nurseries in England and Wales… and the RRP price of the completed playground was £10,000, to be installed in February/March 2022. Playforce will provide a free consultation, site survey and design for the winning school or setting and work with them to agree their final design. We will also deliver and oversee the installation.

To be in with a chance of winning, all the entrants needed to do was show us what a new outdoor space would mean to your school or nursery in a picture or video.

Idverde National Services Director, Oscar Sorabjee, chose the winners from a selected shortlist. He said:

“We had so many great pictures and videos entries from schools and nurseries from across England and Wales. It just went to show how important outdoor space - and having fun in it - is to everyone. It was really hard to choose our winners but the wait is over!  We’re delighted to have, not only a winner of the £10,000 playground but two runners up, each winning their choice of either a Play Cabin or an Imagination Bridge.”

THE WINNER OF A £10K PLAYGROUND IS...

Anfield Road Primary School, Liverpool. In this fantastic submission the children spoke about how sad they were at not being able to enjoy their hard, non-landscaped outdoor space. Located in the middle of Liverpool they announced, proudly, that they were “not here to talk about Liverpool Football Club but about how sad [they] were”. They then went on to show pictures they had drawn about the things they’d like to see in a playground - rock climbing, games, creative and den areas as well as more practical things, such as soft surfacing so they “don’t hurt themselves” on the hard tarmac they currently have. We were totally won over by their enthusiasm and the way the whole school seemed to have got involved in the competition entry - hoping to transform this urban environment into a playground and outdoor learning area for everyone. We received the entry from Mr Neil Griffiths, Deputy Headteacher.

Oscar continued…

“It was so hard to choose that we also wanted to make a special mention to a couple of other schools, on their great competition entries. They really were so good, we wanted to share them as well. So here’s a shout out for Sitwell Junior School, South Yorkshire and Green Shoots Pre-School. Well done, everyone.”
