Spring is springing

We know. We get it. Thinking about new play equipment and how to take learning outside is far more interesting than considering whether wood is a bit scuffed up, surfaces are too slippy or whether nuts and bolts are rattling. But, as the UK’s leading playground provider, we’ve been around long enough to know that the best playgrounds have lasted at least as long as we have… because they’re looked after and properly maintained. Think of it like your car… if you forget to put oil in the engine, or wash it, it doesn’t take long for things to start looking scruffy, clunking and banking and eventually falling apart. Playgrounds need TLC (or should we say TCL) just like everything else, if we want to keep them tip top. And now’s the time to think about maintenance… before the summer months kick in… as we’re all starting to get outdoors and seeing the effect so many months or rain and snow have had on everything.

So, where should you start with getting your playground ‘summer ready’? Regardless of the size or scope of your project, your dedicated Customer Account Manager is there to help you arrange routine inspections and address any questions you might have about keeping your outdoor space safe.  Whether you have questions about preparing your equipment for winter, or the best way to take maths outside the classroom, we’re here to help.

But it doesn’t stop there.  Our customers tell us that the best thing about working with Playforce is our ‘one-stop-shop’ approach to outdoor spaces – everything from smaller outdoor resources to major landscaping work, fencing and signage and wider grounds maintenance.  By co-ordinating services available from other companies within TCL Group we can take the whole problem off your desk.

Do your homework

First of all, you might want to do some homework. Our customers often get in touch to ask advice on routine maintenance tasks such as tightening bolts, checking splits in timber posts and cleaning surfacing. So, we've put together a few handy videos to help you tackle these tasks. You can watch them here:

How to check and tighten Playforce fixings
How to check Playforce timbers
How to clean All Weather surfacing

You might also want to read our summer guide to doing routine maintenance… or our tips on things to look out for… Don’t forget… getting ahead of yourself keeps children playing safely for longer!

Bring in the experts

If you’d like someone to help you with this, Playforce Care Inspection Packages give you peace of mind that you are adhering to the best and most up to date health and safety advice, in maintaining your play space and caring for the children using it.

With a variety of options and prices we can advise you on the perfect solution for your setting. Independent, RPII-certified inspectors will not only provide maintenance reports for your equipment and surfacing, but will also help you to remedy any problems and conduct thorough one-to-one training sessions with a member of your staff.

A royal standard of grounds maintenance

Finally, if you think you need something a bit more involved than just checking over your playground, our grounds maintenance services provide everything you could need from tree surgery through to specialist invasive species management and day-to-day tidying.

Our TCL Group partner company, Burleys, provides exceptional grounds maintenance and estate management services by appointment to Her Majesty The Queen.

Most importantly, like us, the team at Burleys believes that sustainable grounds maintenance goes beyond just mowing the lawn.  Providing a leading service means understanding and respecting natural cycles and relationships as well as working hard to minimise carbon footprints and improving management practices.
