Liverpool school wins free 10k playground from Playforce

08 November 2021

In September we launched our biggest competition to date - a chance for schools and nurseries in England and Wales to win a playground valued at £10,000. A further two runners-up will also receive prizes for their school or nursery.

Last week we announced the winners of our win a £10k playground competition. The winner of the £10,000 playground were Anfield Road Primary School.

Anfield Road Primary School Deputy Headteacher, Neil Griffiths said

‘’We still cannot believe that we have won the competition. We first heard about the competition from a member of staff. Their daughter had seen the competition online I think through Twitter. We then asked the School Council to meet and come up with the idea for the film. Our children are amazing and all of the ideas in the film came from them. The original film was over 2 minutes and was so difficult to take parts away. ‘’

Mr Griffiths continued:

‘’When we announced the result on the school tannoy you could hear the cheers right across the school. It's the biggest thing the school has ever done and to be honest I still cannot believe we have won. It will make a massive difference. We have been trying to improve the yard for a number of years but due to financial reasons we have never been able to do what we wanted for our children.‘’

School pupil, news reported and school chair Kamsy said, "Thank you so much for the money to help improve our playground. It means so much to us as a school council and school."

And School pupil and school council record keeper, Hannah Said, "We are amazed that we won. It will make a big difference to our play and lunch times by spending time having fun with our friends."

Playforce Business Development Executive Elizabeth Radcliffe, had the pleasure of calling the school to tell them the great news

‘’Mr Griffiths was over the moon to receive the news that they’d won the competition, he explained that it’ll mean so much to the children as the current playground is so unadventurous. It was a heart warming feeling to be able to deliver such lovely news.’’
