It’s Children’s Hospice Week 2019

19 June 2019

Children’s Hospice Week is the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for children’s hospice and palliative care services across the UK, and the seriously ill children and young people they support. These services are a lifeline for families when they’re facing the toughest of times, and they can’t continue their vital work without your support.

For our 20th birthday last year we supported a number of children’s hospices, around the UK with the gift of natural play equipment. You can read more about this here. Working with national charity, Together for Short Lives we were pleased to bring a bit of ‘outdoor joy’ to the children at Ty Hafan (Wales & West Midlands), Derian House (North West),  The Donna Louise (North East) and Little Havens Children’s Hospice (South).

But it’s not just a one-year thing for us, here at Playforce. We’re also pleased to support our local group, Children’s Hospices South West, on an ongoing basis through a variety of activities including bake offs (yum), fancy dress days, raffles, members of the team entering a 200 mile bike ride and a Tough Mudder, as well as, of course, playground equipment donations.

Linked to this, we were delighted to be asked to help with Harmonie’s Garden. You can read about this here. Harmonie-Rose was struck down with Meningococcal B (Men-B) at 10 months old and given a less than 10% chance of survival. Now four years old Harmonie is a bright, chatty and active quadruple amputee. Her family wanted to give Harmonie-Rose a safe and stimulating garden to play in. And that’s where we stepped in to help.

Running from 17th - 24th June Children’s Hospice Week 2019 has a theme of ‘Moments that Matter’. Donate during Children’s Hospice Week to support children’s hospice services across the UK. A social media campaign will run throughout the week encouraging people to raise awareness of children’s hospices. Get involved using #childrenshospiceweek.
