How to create a shareable wishlist on Pinterest for your playground

07 October 2020

One of the big surprises of 2020 has been the growth in people using Pinterest as a tool for building playground project wishlists. So, we wanted to share some tips on how you can use Pinterest to get inspiration for your project and also create a shareable wishlist - linking directly to the products on our website!

Three reasons we love Pinterest!
It’s visual - It’s far easier to visualise how things might look when you’re looking at a load of pictures. Think of Pinterest like a digital vision or mood board for your outdoor learning development.

It’s easy to use - Pinterest is familiar to many and super easy to use. Once you’re set up we’re pretty certain you’ll be pinning furiously inside of ten minutes.

You can add content directly from the website - One of the best things about Pinterest is that it isn’t just a record of what you like but a great way of linking to more information, on our website.

Getting set up
If you don’t yet have a Pinterest account the first thing you need to do is set one up. Go to https://www.pinterest.co.uk/ and click on ‘sign up’ in the top right corner. You can link it to Facebook or Google accounts, or start from scratch. It will take you less than a minute and then you’re ready to go.

Creating a board
Pinterest has two terms you need to know about:

A board is a digital pinboard of images. Think of it as a collection of images on particular topics, all collected together in one place… as if you’ve torn them out of a magazine and glued them to a board.

A pin is the individual image that you’ve pinned to your board. What makes it great is these are linked through to wherever you found the image in the first place… which is why Pinterest boards and pins are better than just ripping pictures out of magazines.
So, if you want to create a board you simply need to log in to your account, click on your account (which is usually a picture of your face) top right, then click on the + sign on the right. This offers you the option to create a board. This is the first step in building your wishlist. You’ll probably want to name it something like “My dream Playforce playground”.

Start pinning, directly from the Playforce website
We make it really, really easy to pin your favourite products to your new board, directly from the Playforce website.
First, go onto https://playforce.co.uk/ and search for the product(s) you’re looking for.
Once you’re on that product page you’ll see there is a Pinterest icon just by the image. Simply click on that little button. It will prompt you to select the board you want to pin to and to add a description. It’s as simple as that.

Seek inspiration from other Pinterest boards
We’ve put together some Pinterest boards of our own to show how Playforce products can be used in schemes, as well as to support different learning outcomes. You might want to pin to your board from these too.

You just need to click to follow https://www.pinterest.co.uk/playforce and you’ll see a regular feed of the things we’re adding to our boards. To pin anything you like to your board you just hover over the picture and you’ll see a red ‘pin it’ button pop up. Click on this and follow the instructions to pin to your board.

Share your board to others
Once you’ve collected together some pins on your board you might want to share it internally, or even with your Playforce Consultant. All you need to do is click on your account (your face) top right, click on your board and then click on the three dots to the right of the name. ‘Share’ is one of the options it presents you with. You just need to decide how you want to share it (WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Email, or copy a link) and fill in the details.

We’d love to see how you’re getting on so don’t forget to share them with us so we can see!
