Over the last couple of weeks we’ve focused all of our social media attention on Facebook, as it’s where most of you are ‘hanging out’ at the moment. We’ve been collecting together our favourite resources for those teaching from home, and for parents trying to homeschool. You can find us here: https://www.facebook.com/PlayforceUK

In our last article we drew together some of these resources (and there have been loads more since) in this blog article

But what about our favourite subject - PE and getting active outside? It might not be possible to play together or even use playground equipment but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of ways to encourage your children to stay active outside. Here are some of our favourite suggestions:

We couldn’t really do an article about getting active during lockdown without kicking off with the PE teacher to the nation - Joe Wicks. If you haven’t seen the daily PE with (Body Coach) Joe sessions on YouTube then where have you been?  We’ve all been doing them and loving seeing all the positive messages from children around the world doing them too! With kids spending more time cooped up, Molly Elwee at The Telegraph set out some suggestions for how to keep your kids active during coronavirus lockdown. Click here to find out more.

The DfE has published a whole host of amazing resources for teaching PE at home during the lockdown. You can read the full list here, but here are some of the highlights:
Boogie Beebies - early years foundation stage videos that get younger children up and dancing with CBeebies presenters.
Super Movers - key stage 1 and key stage 2 - videos which help children move while they learn. They support curriculum subjects, including maths and English.
#ThisisPE - key stage 1 and key stage 2 - videos delivered by teachers focussing on the PE curriculum which are accessible on YouTube.

DDMIX (Darcey Bustle's dance programme) is doing a live stream 10 minute shake up daily at 1.30pm. Designed for schools it’s an inspiring dance fitness program that gets kids moving. Click here to find out more.

We love, love, love Twinkl’s Animal Movement Cards. Click here to take a look! And how about the Pet Show Yoga?! Take a look here

Play Pilates is physio led Pilates for you and your family, using storytelling with Pilates based exercise to help your child explore their balance and strength. The session is led by Emily Elgar, a Chartered Physiotherapist at Katie Bell Physiotherapy and Wellness. Click here to find out more
