Here at Playforce we like nothing more than being able to combine active and imaginative play - and what better way to do it than through pretending to be pirates? Whether we’re channeling our inner Peter Pan or "Captain" Jack Sparrow, heading for Treasure Island or reading about how Pirates Love Underpants… whatever your swash buckling, timber shivering plans… we think Talk Like a Pirate Day is one of our favourite days of the whole school year.
We have recently launched three new items, designed to take children onto the high seas for a spot of treasure seeking.
Climb the walls, fire the cannons and steer the ship to safety. Peer through the port holes and scramble up the net rigging - all with our wooden Sunken Ship Stern. You could even use it as a space for story time or role play activities.
Or why not scramble up the scrambler or climb the rope on our Sunken Ship Bow or wave the pirate flag and ring the bell, before sliding down the pole on our Sunken Ship Mast.
Perfect for encouraging children to use their imaginations, to create stories and work together as a team, these three new items can be combined to form a pirate ship area, or integrated into existing schemes as individual pieces. Best of all, while they’re climbing and scrambling, fighting pirates, sea monsters and rescuing their friends - your children are outdoors, active and having lots and lots of fun!
But it doesn’t stop there… our Journey Range has a wonderful Pirate Ship that children can sit aboard, spin the anchor or life ring, discover hidden treasure or walk the plank balance beam. And then there’s our Big Wobble Boat - which is perfect for developing strength, balance and teamworking skills - as well as our Sik-Holz Play Ship with climbing net, and our Shipwreck Pirate Crow’s Nest and Stern.
You might be getting the message now… we love playing at being pirates so we’re dusting off our stripy pantaloons and eye patches, catching the parrot and practicing the best ways to talk like a pirate, for 19th September.
